AM Costa Rica Predicts Death of Social Media
Would the last person done with the Internet please remember to turn it off, and on your way out don’t forget to pick up a CB radio and today’s print edition newspaper. A recent article in AM Costa Rica is skeptical of the growth of Social Media, and compares it to Citizen Band (CB) radio while admitting at the end that it might not be a “good parallel”.
Of course this latest editorial is just begging for a retort, but let’s first be clear that the author of this blog likes AM Costa Rica. That is to say “like” it in theFacebook Way along with respecting and enjoying much that has been published during the past nine years.
The comment comes on the heels of last week’s social media summit where the founders of Facebook and Twitter came to Costa Rica. The above video, published by Casa Presidential on the Youtube (social media outlet) shows President Laura Chinchilla meeting Twitter founder Dom Sagolla and conversing in English.
The argument that social media is a fad is flawed for reasons technical, social and economic. Of course the reasons are going to fill more than one article, so please stayed tuned.
