Costa Rica Adventure Race
Trekkers from a dozen countries will compete this week in an adventure race across the Costa Rica.
Racers organized into four person teams will begin Monday in Sarapiquí and traverse 550km of landscapes that include beaches, warm ocean, dry forests, rain forests, cloud forest, volcanoes, lakes, and rivers.
Participants provide their own bicycle, and guide themselves using maps and compasses, however the event sponsored by the Costa Rica Tourism Institute provides logistical support, rafts, kayaks, climbing and paddling equipment.
Teams are competing to earn a $20,000 cash prize.
While the journey is challenging the race is not “non stop” as reported by AM Costa Rica. Included with the registration fee is hotel lodging and meals along the route. Those interested in tracking the progress of the teams may do so virtually.
