100 kilos of marijuana hidden in fruits that went from Mexico to the US

On Tuesday, the Attorney General’s Office reported that a shipment of 100 kilos of marijuana hidden inside pineapples, lettuce and false avocados was seized in the Mexican state of Jalisco.

The finding of the drug resulted from the investigations against a criminal group dedicated to arms and drugs trafficking.

With a search warrant, federal police officers searched a warehouse to south of Guadalajara, where they found a trailer loaded with wooden boxes containing avocados, pineapples and lettuces, ready to be transported to the United States.

However, upon examination they found plastic packages with marijuana in the middle of some pineapples and lettuces.

Among the avocados, the agents discovered synthetic fruits that also contained marijuana inside. During the operation, the officers arrested a man who was in the warehouse.

This is not the first time drug trafficking groups have used unusual and creative methods to transport drugs to the United States.

Last July, the Secretariat of Mexico’s navy reported cocaine mixed with hot sauce in the port of Manzanillo.
