1,500 Indigenous in Panama living in subhuman conditions

According to the directer of a human rights organizations, the 1,500 indigenous of the Ngobe Bugle who come from Panama to work the coffee harvest in Los Santos are living in unsanitary and inhumane conditions. An estimated 95 percent live in poverty and suffer high infant mortality rates.

Among the main factors attracting migrants to Los Santos is the lack of immigration controls at border posts, access to basic social services, and better opportunities to earn a living.
