16 thousand Atenas’ residents are without water service since last Saturday

A total of 16,167 people in Atenas, Alajuela have been without water service for three days, after the fall of a tree affected one of the main pipelines that supplies the area.

According to a statement of Aqueducts and Sewer Institute (AyA), the problem is not yet solved and it is unknown when the service will be restored.

AyA officials are working hard to repair the damage, but the location of the pipeline makes the works very complex and delicate,”

said the institution.

At the moment the communities are supplied by tank trucks.

The affected areas are: Barrio Mercedes, Fátima, Sabana Larga, Guízaro, Atenas, Boquerón, Ángeles, Calle Alajuela, Oratorio, Estación, Río Grande and Pan de Azúcar.
