18 year old receives first intestinal transplant in Central America

An eighteen year old who lost his small intestine in a knife fight received the first intestinal transplant in Central America on Tuesday. According to Dr. Mario Sanchez, transplant coordinator at Hospital Calderón Guardia surgery took eight hours and the recipient is in stable condition.
