The employment rates for the first quarter of 2017 are expected to be positive. Out of 620,000 companies surveyed in Costa Rica, 21% said it would increase its workforce.
The survey ‘Employment Expectations ManpowerGroup’ consulted 60,000 people in 43 countries.
In the case of Costa Rica, the survey companies grouped companies by sector, activity and geographical area, trying to predict company trends in the coming months and based on a single question, about hiring.
Ana Gabriela Chaverri, manager of Manpower Costa Rica, said that only 5% of employers said they would reduce staff and 72% said it will that remain the same.
Chaverri explained that Heredia is the province with the highest employment trend with 22%, followed by Guanacaste with 16%.
The strongest forecast for this year is communications and transport with 18%. US firm AT&T already has authorization to operate so that a capital injection is expected, as well as the creation of new jobs. In addition, the Superintendence of Telecommunications is bidding on telephony and Internet projects with an approximate value of 37 million dollars,”
said Chaverri.
The activities that generate greater opportunities are related to communications, transport and services, especially in Heredia. In Guanacaste, the greatest opportunities come from agricultural activities.
