Nate causes six hydroelectric plants to stop working

The increase in flows and sedimentation due to heavy rains that fall on the national territory prompted the Energy Control Center to make the decision to have six hydroelectric plants to shut down operations.

Two of the plants are from the Costa Rican Institute of Electricity: Cachí and Brazil, as well as four from the National Power and Light Company: El Encanto, Cote, Electriona and Ventanas.

This decision was made as a measure of prevention against the impact of Nate tropical storm.

The rest of the ICE generation plants are operating normally and the geothermal plants in Miravalles are working at 100% of their capacity to balance the system and avoid affecting the population.

In addition, it is reported that Cachí, Reventazón, Peñas Blancas, Pirrís and Angostura are operating to regulate the level of the reservoirs.
