2,375 MEP officials have been relocated

To date, thousands of workers from the Ministry of Public Education have had to be relocated in order to protect their health.

Yaxinia Díaz, MEP’s Director of Human Resources, explains that a relocation consists of compliance with the workers’ rights under Article 254 of the Labor Code, which stipulates that if the official does not have the health conditions suitable for the job, he/she must be relocated to a new place in order to keep working to guarantee their stability and labor rights.

Currently, 2,375 officials have been relocated.

Relocations are always carried out taking into account the teaching field and it must be renewed according to the period in which the specialist dictates, which vary from 1 to 2 years.

This is why the renewal consists of a very strict process, which must be done under a specialist’s medical supervision from the Costa Rican Social Security Fund.

For the relocated employees, the working conditions, schedules and salaries remain the same.
