250 gold miners forced their way into Corcovado National Park

Two buses and three trucks with young and senior men and women went into the Corcovado National Park through Los Patos sector on Sunday morning, having the authorities run after them.

Apparently, this group of approximately 250 people work as gold miners and they are demonstrating against the government. However, there is no certainty about what lies behind the situation.

What is clear is that these people entered Corcovado and some even speculate they are extracting gold from the rivers, which is illegal in the park.

The Public Force went the site to monitor the activity of the group and prevent uncontrolled situations.

The rumors are that they are demonstrating because the Government did not pay what it had promised them when it restricted gold extraction in the Park, and that they are asking for the presence of President Luis Guillermo Solís.
