29 flights to North America cancelled due to ash fall

Although the Juan Santamaria airport works normally, some airlines decided to cancel the flights for safety issues due to the ash emanating from Turrialba volcano.

Silvia Cháves, a spokeswoman for Aeris, confirmed that at least 18 flights were suspended on Wednesday and they suspended 11 more on Thursday, all of which were headed to North America.

Given the ash report in the vicinity of the terminal, some airlines, based on their internal protocols, have suspended their flights. The airlines are of American origin,”

added Chaves.

American Airlines suspended at least 4 flights from Miami to San José and back. These are flights 2221, 2247, 1204 and 1238.

Aeris recommends that affected people communicate directly with the airline to reschedule flights.
