A 16% increase in fuel prices is coming in 2017

According to the Fuel Chamber, the global decline in oil production will cause Costa Ricans to pay more for gasoline.

Global oil production is going to be reduced by $ 1,2 million barrels a day. That will cause less supply in the market despite the fact that demand will always be the same, which will result in a price increase in oil products,

said José Antonio Galva, President of the Chamber.

The Chamber projections stated that in the first half of 2017 the price of a barrel of oil will increase from $ 47 to $ 60. If global oil prices rise, so will fuel costs in the country.

The businessman emphasized the need to modify the formula of the prices’ adjustments in order to avoid frequent changes.
