A bill aims to prevent the use of cellphones in prisons

The Commission on Security and Drug Trafficking of the National Assembly approved a bill proposal that would prevent the use of cellphones in prisons.

The initiative, presented by the Executive, would require network operators and telecommunications service providers to take measures to prevent inmates from using wireless services to commit crimes from prison.

Legislator Marco Vinicio Redondo, from Partido Acción Ciudadana (PAC), explained that the project aims to curb scams and frauds that are conducted from prisons.
