A boom barrier could reduce the number of cars crashing the train

The number of vehicles crashing the train at the intersection of “El Pirro” sector motivated the Public Services Company of Heredia (ESPH) to install a boom barrier to prevent crashes from increasing.

In addition to that, the crossing will have visual and aural signs that will indicate drivers when the train is getting closer.

INCOFER spokeswoman María Fernanda Arias declared that it is a pilot project to show how the systems works.

The final operation tests will be conducted on January 27th. As a result, the boom barriers could start working next week.
