After cementazo, Court approves plan against corruption

The judges of the Supreme Court unanimously approved the creation of a plan against corruption in the face of the crisis in the Judiciary caused by the cementazo scandal.

Said plan seeks to form commissions that make the proposals within a term of 15 days. The proposal was made by magistrate Paul Rueda, who said that this commitment should give results in 2 weeks, once the minutes are finalized next Monday.

Judge Ernesto Jinesta said that for the preparation of this plan they should take into account a project that he developed together with former Magistrate Rolando Vega, called “Evaluation and accountability.”

According to Jinesta, that project had procedures where the different dependencies of the Judicial Branch such as the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Judicial Investigation Agency were held accountable for their actions.

The approval of said protocol occurs at the time that the magistrates of the Third Chamber were accused by the National Association of Investigators in Criminalistics for the purpose of the investigations against legislators Víctor Morales Zapata and Otto Guevara for an alleged influence peddling in favor of the Chinese cement importer, Juan Carlos Bolaños.
