Agricultural extension workers must adapt to new technologies

President Luis Guillermo Solís, participated in the opening of the Third National Congress of Agricultural Extension, an activity organized by the Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA).

The president was pleased with this activity that allows to boost the Costa Rican agricultural production.

The Government has an obligation with education, and agricultural extension is part of that obligation,”

said the President, calling professionals in this area to deal responsibly with the technological changes that are taking place in the world.

The Minister of MAG, Luis Felipe Arauz and the Director General of IICA, Victor Villalobos, were at the opening, as well as special guests.

The congress will take place until Friday at IICA Headquarters in Coronado. The aim of the activity is to provide opportunities for agricultural extension workers (people in charge of bringing the technical knowledge to the field) to share knowledge that will lead to changes and innovations within the National Agricultural Extension System.

This conference comes very timely. This administration has invested nearly one billion colones in agricultural extension,”

said Minister Arauz.
