Alleged coyote arrested for charging 10 thousand colones to migrants

On Tuesday, officers of the Border Police intercepted an alleged “coyote” that charged 10 thousand colones to Nicaraguan migrants. Police enforcement was carried out in Peñas Blancas de La Cruz , Guanacaste.

The suspect, named Álvarez, a Nicaraguan national, was caught in the company of another man. This person assured the Border Police that he had to pay the sum of 10 thousand colones to enter Costa Rican soil.

Both men were intercepted 300 meters away from the immigration post where foreigners must report to legally enter the country.

Álvarez was transferred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for what is appropriate. He is waiting for precautionary measures.
