Alvarado confirms trip to Spain in December for COP25

The President of the Republic, Carlos Alvarado Quesada, will travel next month to Madrid, Spain, to participate in the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP25).

This Tuesday the Minister of Communication, Nancy Marín, confirmed the President’s attendance at the meeting to be held between December 2nd and 13th. At the moment the days in which Alvarado will be in the meeting have not been confirmed.

The president has a commitment to go to the COP, wherever the president takes place, he will be attending the meeting,”

said Marín.

Last Friday, Spain announced that it will organize COP25, the most important world event in the fight against climate change, instead of Chile, which had to cancel the organization of the event because of the social and political crisis that it is experiencing.

The previous week, the Executive Branch in Cista Rica ruled out organizing this event, especially due to logistical aspects and the capacity to receive about 3,000 people who make up the delegations.

At the moment it is unknown if ministers, in addition to Carlos Manuel Rodríguez (MINAE), will accompany Alvarado to Madrid.
