Amazon will create 350 new jobs in the country

On Monday, Amazon announced its plans to create 350 new jobs in the country, thanks to the official opening of its new sales service center (known as Seller Support Hub).

This investment will allow the company to offer support and attention to small and medium businesses that sell through Amazon. Half of the items sold on the platform around the world, are small and medium businesses that offer their products through Amazon Marketplace, as explained by David Graham, director of Seller and Vendor Support of Amazon.

In 2009, the company started its Seller Support operations in Costa Rica with only 30 employees. Now in its headquarters, El Tobogán Corporate Center, it has 900 employees.

Jorge Sequeira, CEO of CINDE, commented that the Costa Rican service sector continues to grow at an accelerated pace and that it generates thousands of quality jobs for Costa Ricans.

The Seller Support Hub that opens today joins Amazon headquarters in Lagunilla (Ultrapark LAG), San Francisco de Heredia (American Free Zone) and Calle Blancos (Zona Franca del Este). Amazon currently employs more than 6,500 people in Costa Rica and expects to generate more than 1,500 new jobs in 2018.
