American tourist was attacked by a crocodile

On Friday, an American tourist, Jonathan Arthur Cker, was attacked by a crocodile while surfing with several friends in Tamarindo.

After the attack, he was operated at Enrique Baltodano Liberia Hospital, Guanacaste, where doctors amputated part of his right leg.

On Saturday, he was admitted to a private medical center in the capital.

Cker, who is 59 years old, was airlifted from Liberia to Pavas. He was transported by ambulance to a private hospital in San José’s downtown.

His family arrived in the country on Friday and immediately went to Guanacaste to be with the victim.

On Saturday morning, his condition was critical but stable. A blood transfusion was required since he lost a lot of blood and it was needed for the operation.

There have been other similar events: in 2013 a Spanish couple was attacked by a crocodile while surfing and a Canadian tourist in 2015 required several stitches on his left leg after being bitten.
