ANEP will outline its strategy, but asks to continue strike

The National Association of Public Employees (ANEP) will soon make its final decision on the strike calls against the fiscal plan.

The suspense remains at its peak after the ruling issued on Friday by the Constitutional Chamber, by which it was determined that the project promoted in the Legislative Assembly has no unconstitutional elements.

Through a text message distributed among its members, ANEP insisted that on “day 78” the strike is called to continue and asked the union members to concentrate from 9:00 a.m. on the premises of the association on Calle 20, in San José.

According to the group, during this weekend they will hold meetings to assess the new socio-political scenario that involves the resolution of the judges.

On Saturday, Albino Vargas, secretary general of ANEP, who has been one of the most visible faces of the movement against the tax reform, accused the magistrates of the Constitutional Chamber of dictating a ‘political’ sentence and warned that they will continue to confront the initiative that now looks at the second reading in the Legislative Assembly.

The magistrates reaffirmed the possibility that the text be approved by a simple majority in the Legislative Assembly. That is, 29 votes.
