Another burglar fell asleep before fleeing

On Thursday morning, officers from the Alajuela Police Force arrested a guy who fell asleep in the armchair of an apartment where he was allegedly trying to steal.

At 8:57a.m., the officers got to the place after an alert call made by the owner of the property, located in Cacique Abajo Las Cañas de Río Segundo.

When the policemen arrived, they found the subject deeply asleep in an armchair. At his side, on the floor, he had two suitcases with several articles of the apartment with which he planned to flee upon awakening.

The “sleeping beast” was identified with the name Rojas, 33, who has a criminal record for crimes against property, especially robberies.

The tenant of the building was not there. Apparently, they traveled to Guanacaste a few days ago, so Rojas took advantage of this to remove several lattices and steal various items.

Rojas was immediately handcuffed and referred to the Alajuela Flagrant Prosecutor’s Office. He carried no weapons.
