The rural aqueduct of San Rafael de Alajuela decided to be a friendly environment company and invested in the installation of solar panels that generate the electricity needed to use the water from one of its wells.

In total, 160 devices now serve 3,000 users in the area, and allow to save around 40% in the monthly electric bill.

According to Gerardo Morera, president of the aqueduct, this technology allows enough energy to meet the requirements of the engines pumps that draw water from one of the wells. Then, the water flows into the storage tank for the chlorination process and distributed to neighbors.

We plan towards the future and technology is of paramount importance for future generations to have water resources. We wanted to strive for excellence so that things happen,”

said Morera. In the coming months, the company aims to install more panels in other systems that make up the pipeline.
