ARESEP is investigating 4 people

The Public Services Regulatory Authority (ARESEP) is conducting an investigation against 4 people for an alleged misuse of vehicles of the Superintendence of Telecommunications (SUTEL).

The officials investigated are Méndez, Gutiérrez, Herrera and Miley. They were part of SUTEL Council in 2010 and they have allegedly registered 4 vehicles for discretionary use, which means that the cars do not have fuel restrictions, operating hours or travel.

They can also carry private plates and have no visible marks that identify them as official vehicles. However, the officials had to assign them institutional plates.

According to the administrative investigation, the Administration spent 28 million from September 2010 to October 2012 for the payment of gasoline, policies, maintenance, repairs, among others.

For this reason, ARESEP ordered a proceeding for alleged non-compliance with article 3 of the Law Against Corruption and Illicit Enrichment in the public function that has been under investigation since 2014.
