Art brings together students from across the country

About 20 thousand students from different parts of the country participate in a series of national meetings as part of the Student Festival of the Arts (FEA).

Both children and young people show their talent and creativity in 47 artistic disciplines grouped in the areas of: scenic, literary, musical and visual arts.

In total, throughout the year, nearly 300 thousand students from the country participate with presentations that demonstrate their performance, express their emotions and feelings through art.

Lilliana Rojas, head of the Department of Coexistence of the Directorate of Student Life of the MEP, said that this type of activity helps motivate student artistic expression.

For this year the slogan chosen was “Love, life and art for a new planetary citizenship” as part of the declaration of the Higher Council of Education (CSE) issued for the school year 2017: year of planetary citizenship.

When we speak of love, life and art for a planetary citizenship, it is to promote values of sustainable development, human rights, skills for assertive coexistence and, based on the artistic activity chosen by the students, they can express the different realities they are living,”

said Rojas.

Dances, choirs, poetry, storytelling, cimarronas, street theater, bands, paintings, are part of the student artistic show presented at La Uruca. The festival is open to the public until Wednesday, November 22nd.

This activity was born 41 years ago and it’s organized by the Student Coexistence Department of the Student Life Directorate of the Ministry of Public Education (MEP).
