ASECUBO employees will now be part of the fire department

More than 81 people who were hired by the Solidarity Association of the Fire Department Staff (ASECUBO) would be transferred to the actual fire department.

Elián Villegas, president of the National Insurance Institute (INS), said the issue was discussed during the board’s session.

The hierarch recognized that this mechanism has been used for the recruitment of personnel to provide services to firefighters.

The INS will create these new positions so that the employees no longer have to be linked to the association.

Moreover, there are still new job ads to hire people in ASECUBO Facebook page, but they don’t clarify whether it is for the fire department or for the association.

Last year, the National Fire Department indicated that the contracts are in compliance with the law.

As for the staff that handles emergencies, they are directly hired by the fire department and not by the association, because having temporary people doing this would not have the approval of the Comptroller.

The labor contracts of the Fire Department with the association exceeded ¢79 million until mid-2016.
