Ashes can damage vehicles’ brakes and air filters

In addition to the tips on how to protect the eyes, the skin and the respiratory system from the ash fall, there are some recommendations regarding vehicles. They can save people’s lives and it is important to know about them:

Excessive presence of ash not only damages the vehicles’ paint, it can also affect the way they operate. For instance, a great accumulation of ash in the brake pads or discs can create corrosion and increase the temperature due to the extra friction:  it will make brakes less effective. As consequence, people should wash the brakes system when it is cold. Ssing a water jet to avoid ashes accumulation would be a great choice.

People should also pay attention to air filters, because if they are saturated and the particles reach the engine, they will produce the same corrosive effect.

Regarding the health of the passengers and the drivers, it is important to check the cabin’s air filter.
