Authorities report 37 cases of malaria, most of them in Crucitas

As of October 12th, 37 indigenous malaria cases were registered, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

Crucitas de Cutris, in San Carlos, is the district with the highest incidence, with a total of 20 diagnoses, followed by Pocosol with eight, and Chomes with four cases.

In Limón, three patients were confirmed, one in Los Chiles and one more case in Monterrey.

Malaria is caused by a parasite of the genus Plasmodium sp that is transmitted by the bite of the Anopheles sp mosquito in areas less than 600 meters above sea level.
