A puma was seen at the end of December in Madrigal River sector located in the Corcovado National Park. The scene was recorded in a video taken by the guide Breyner Araya, in the surroundings of the Leona Station, where the animal is observed near a monkey.

Carlos Murillo, a park ranger in the area, witnessed the event and told CRHoy.com that on December 21st, he left to walk past 7:00 a.m. and he found a young cougar by the river bed and then he arrived until the beach,

there was a group of white-faced monkeys that he wanted to hunt… he made the attempt but it did not work so, after a few minutes, he settled down to rest under an almond tree.”

According to the official, sightings of pumas are common at this time of year, because these animals go down to the beach and the forest to look for food.

They hunt Colorado monkeys and white-faced monkeys, and anteaters, among others,”
