Car owners will pay between 3% and 6% less for property tax

Good news for your pocket if you own a vehicle. The vehicle ownership tax will suffer a reduction of between 3% and 6% for next year.

The Ministry of Finance confirmed that the reduction is due to a loss of value of much of the vehicle fleet.

This tax is one of the components that are integrated in the circulation permit, which must be collected as of November.

The amounts have not yet been released. The National Insurance Institute (INS) required these calculations by the Treasury and a supervisory authorization to disclose the final amounts.

According to the Treasury, there are a total of 2,488,774 registered vehicles in the country.

According to the new collection table, a car of the year 2012 with a Treasury value of ₡11.7 million the previous year will now have a value of ₡10.8 million. This implies that you pay ₡22,820 less in the tax.

If you want to know how much you should pay for this tax, you can do so on the website www.hacienda.go.cr in the section “most used services” go to “self-management”.
