Carolina Hidalgo backs down and will discuss doctors’ salaries with tax plan

Legislator Pedro Muñoz complained that his motion of reiteration on the salary for doctors got rejected. The pressure made the President of the Congress, Carolina Hidalgo, back down and admit the discussion in Plenary, as part of the bill of tax reform.

During the reading of the report that began after 4 p.m. on Thursday, the congresswoman revealed the motion was rejected because it was disconnected, that is, it was not pertinent to see a salary issue in a bill that seeks the implementation of taxes.

However, Muñoz argued that the Technical Services report of the Legislative Assembly stipulated that if the Constitutional Chamber considered it unconstitutional, the entire bill to strengthen public finances was not brought down.

If this is how the PAC is going to handle this matter, they will not have my vote automatically,”

said the Social Christian minutes before Hidalgo announced the amendment.

Muñoz also criticized that this benefit puts a golden crown to professionals in Medical Sciences that is not suitable in a society that demanded the elimination of benefits.
