Cartago celebrated Costa Rica’s Independence

The Old Metropolis held the celebrations for the 196th anniversary of the Independence of the country. Cartago had the Governing Council and the arrival of the torch symbolizing the freedom of the country.

For a couple of hours the streets surrounding the Central Park were closed, where every year the government session is held.
The rain was present for most of the afternoon.

President Luis Guillermo Solís has been touring this province for the last 3 days. At 6 p.m. he sang the National Anthem at the Misty Museum, former police headquarters and walked to the main stage, located in front of the Ruins.
