Cartago has 100 new bikes for rental

Cartago municipality relaunched “bicipúbli”, with 100 new bikes that will be provided to people over 18 years old.

As part of the BicipúbliCartago plan, promoted within the Healthy and Sustainable Mobility project, the municipality opened three stations located in the Costa Rican Institute of Technology (TEC), the train station and the University College of Cartago (CUC).

Mayor Rolando Rodriguez explained that the project aims to ensure public health, because it promotes healthy lifestyles and environmentally-friendly transportation.

The project had four stages: the construction of the bikeway, the construction of bike parkings around the city, teaching people how to ride a bike and finally start with the bike rental.

Bicycles are available from Monday to Friday from 6:30 am to 5:30 pm. On Saturday from 6:30 am to 4 pm, and on Sunday from 8am until noon. To rent the bikes, users must present their Id and sign a contract of use available at each station.
