CCSS is conferring job positions for medical specialists

On August 28th, the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) resumed the conferring of positions to doctors. the institution intended to fill 49 seats with the exam for compulsory social service, however only 8 physicians presented.

Among them, there were 3 pathologists who will work in Monsignor Sanabria Hospital, in Puntarenas, Tony Facio Hospital, in Limón, and Escalante Pradilla Hospital, in Perez Zeledón; there are two general surgeons that are going to work in Escalante Pradilla Hospital and Guápiles Hospital; there is a maternal-fetal medicine specialist who is going to be at Tony Facio Hospital in Limón and 2 otolaryngologists who will be working in Turrialba Hospital and Grecia Hospital.

Since September 13th, authorities are allocating the job positions, but there are doctors who are creating different proposals for the institution. As consequence, the Fund is waiting for them to continue the allocation.

The lack of specialists affects patient care and increases the institution’s expenditures. In the first half of 2016, the Fund disbursed 82 billion colones to pay extra hours to its employees.
