CCSS vigilent against regional Cholera alert

Following an international cholera alert from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) last year, the the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) has setup a network of 22 laboratories to monitor the possible entry of cholera into the country. Cases have been reported in Mexico, Haiti, Cuba and Dominican Republic, however none in Costa Rica. Health officals urge people to strengthen hygiene measures and refrain from consuming food prepared on the street.
