Central American authorities signed an agreement to boost the e-commerce platform

Central American authorities on foreign trade, customs, migration and sanitary and phytosanitary control signed an agreement to boost the development of the Central American e-Commerce Platform.

According to those involved, the mechanism will facilitate trade in the region by reducing costs in trade operations and positively impacting the competitiveness of Central American countries.

The project has the support of the European Union for its design and implementation and it will be implemented by the Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration (SIECA) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

The platform will also enable the region to facilitate trade through the application of international practices in computer infrastructure, as well as simplifying procedures and procedures related to trade.

The first stage of the platform implemented a regional data center.

The second stage acts as a system of mediation among authorities, entities and economic operators, based on the development of the first stage and integrating electronic transmission of customs information, health records and migration data.
