Central Bank could remove the exchange rate bands to control the dollar, says economist

An increase to the value of the dollar in recent weeks could prompt the Central Bank of Costa Rica (BCCR) to made the decision to remove bands for exchange rate controls. Experts are worried that further devaluation may occur when Costa Rica places Eurobonds at mid-year. Economists also denied there is any plan for the value of the colon to the U.S. dollar to reach 600 by year’s end.
