Chancellor aims to “non-traditional” partnerships

United States, China and France are countries with which Costa Rica has “mature” relations, which is why foreign Minister Manuel Gonzalez has his eyes set on new horizons, especially on countries in Central Europe and Asia.

“I want to look for new destinations with non-traditional partners, to create political and economic opportunities with elections, U.N. resolutions and growing economies”, said the Minister. The relations in mind are oriented towards countries such as Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Czech Republic, Hungary, Malaysia and Brunei.

The Chancellor also highlighted the relations established in Asia, beyond the friendship with China, because

“Asia is so much more than just China. And there we have other traditional partners such as Japan, Korea and Singapore, but we want to go beyond”.
