Children’s Hospital emergency shutdown annoys parents

The measure taken by the authorities of the National Children’s Hospital (HNN) to only receive children in critical conditions, upset several parents who went to the emergency room and found closed doors.

Olga Arguedas, director of the medical center, said they would only take care of injuries from serious traffic accidents, heart disease or premature babies, because they can’t handle any more patients, due to the large number of children with respiratory infections who are hospitalized.

The clinics that are currently receiving children with respiratory problems are Carlos Durán Durán in barrio Vasconia, Jiménez Núñez in Goicoechea, Solón Núñez in Hatillo, Centro de Atención Integral en Salud (CAIS) of Desamparados, Clínica Central in barrio Aranjuez and Clorirta Picado in Cinco Esquinas in Tibás.
