Cocaine confiscations reached historical figures

The last cut of drug confiscation made by the country’s security authorities accounted for a total of 30 tons and 88 kilos of cocaine. This figure became the country’s historical record. Similarly, there were also six tons and 510 kilos of marijuana confiscated from narcs.

The authorities point out that cocaine is produced in South America and aims to reach North America or Europe, mainly through a maritime route.

The Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) and the Drug Control Police (PCD) had previously estimated that one kilo of cocaine in Costa Rica has a value close to $8 thousand (almost ¢5 million), while in the United States it can cost nearly $35 thousand.

Security Minister Gustavo Mata, said last week that confiscating this drug is very important and that it’s not entering this territory or polluting this population.
