Cold front takes fourth victim in the country

The cold front affecting the country claimed its fourth victim on Monday morning in Turrialba. According to the National Emergency Commission (CNE), a person who tried to cross the river Siripi but the current dragged them into the indigenous area of Turrialba.

Apparently, the current dragged the victim on Saturday but the body was located on Monday. He joins the three people who died over the weekend crushed under falling trees in Cahuita and Caldera, two Swiss tourists and a young Costa Rican man.

The tourists were staying in cabins in Cahuita when the tree fell on them. The young man was enjoying a recreational race in Puntarenas when a tree fell on him.

At this time the CNE has received 332 reports of incidents in the seven provinces of the country. Of these reports, 318 were due to strong winds, six due to landslides, three floods and five inspection requests.
