Computer professionals against budget cuts to MICITT

The Board of the Association of Information Technology Professionals raised its voice against the cuts to next year’s budget for the Ministry of Science, Technology and Telecommunications (MICITT) audited by the Legislature.

The board criticizes the fact that it’s not given the strategic value it deserves and explains that this is one of the most demanded labor areas in the country and the sector that has attracted more foreign investment.

Therefore, the board is asking legislators to think well and reconsider the decision.

We strongly request that the Legislative Assembly performs an analysis of the impact this decrease will have and that it reconsiders not applying it to MICITT,”

stated the professional association in a press release.

They also ask an assessment on that the large number of projects that will be stopped and the negative impact it will have on the country’s development.

Some of the programs that would be affected are: several regional activities in science and technology, fulfillment of commitments with the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), purchase of a truck for servicing the Intelligent Community Centers (CECI) and the creation of a technology platform to strengthen science, technology and innovation at national level.
