Contract awarded for construction of Circunvalación Norte

Costa Rican-Dominican bidding consortium Hernan Solis Star-Ring will complete the project.

Joint Costa Rican and Dominican consortium of Hernán Solís has been awarded the contract to build the Circunvalación Norte by the National Roads Authority. Total cost of the project will be $141.16 million, which will be paid using funds from a loan provided by the Inter-American Development Bank (BCIE). The firm won with a bid lower than a competing Mexican and Chinese firm.

The project calls for a design in six months, and will build a 5.4 km highway to connect La Uruca with Calle Blancos. Work is expected to take 18 months, and is expected to begin in the first months of next year. The contract is subject to approval by the Comptroller General of the Republic.
