Controversy between the MINAE and FUNDAZOO

Simón Park Foundation Administration (FUNDAZOO) defended itself after a resolution of the Supreme Court of Justice that started the controversy between this entity and the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE).

Last Friday, MINAE announced that the ruling of the First Chamber requires Fundazoo to adjust to a modern vision of wildlife conservation, through changes in the exhibition of animals, their enclosures, treatment and conditions of the animals’ lives, among other measures.

However, FUNDAZOO sent a statement clarifying the scope of the resolution and questions national authorities’ position.

FUNDAZOO has rebuilt 80% of the Zoological Park and Simón Bolívar National Botanical Garden based on international standards. We do not understand why officials do not want to recognize that,

declared the foundation trhough a statement.

In addition, the text highlighted that the problems with some MINAE officials started when the First Chamber recognized the extension of the MINAE-Fundazoo contract until 2024.
