Costa Rica expresses concern over the arrival of Russian aircraft to Venezuela

The government joined the concerns of a sector of the international community that is sees the shipment of Russian military aircraft to Venezuela with suspicion.

Through an official statement, the Foreign Ministry joined the concern expressed by the Lima Group in this regard. This group is made up of Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Saint Lucia.

On Tuesday, this group reiterated “its condemnation of any provocation or military deployment that threatens peace and security in the region.”

Russia said that it made this military deployment in strict adherence to legality, while the president in charge of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó insists that this violates the Venezuelan Constitution.
