Costa Rica disagreed with the suspension of an OAS special session on Venezuela’s situation

The Foreign Ministry informed that Costa Rica protested against the suspension of a OAS special session convened to discuss Venezuela’s situation.

The meeting was suspended by representative of Bolivia Diego Pary, who assumed the presidency of the Permanent Council of the OAS. Instead, he called for an informal meeting among the member countries of the continental bloc.

The special session on Venezuela had been convened last Friday by 20 member countries of the organization to discuss the situation because the Venezuelan Supreme Court of Justice had assumed the legislative powers from the National Assembly and removed immunity from parliamentarians, a decision that was later annuled.
