Costa Rican ambassador is fired in El Salvador

The Costa Rican Ambassador to El Salvador, Carlos Manuel Echeverría, was removed from his position. On April 25th, he will leave office in that country.

The decision of the dismissal was ratified by the Governing Council, in the session held on Tuesday.

Both the appointment and the removal of the Ambassadors are […] in the hands of the Governing Council, according to the provisions of the Constitution of Costa Rica,”

said Foreign Ministry.

Apparently, the dismissal of the diplomat is due to accusations of harassment filed by some officials against Echeverría. According to the press, an investigation was made about the organizational climate in that diplomatic seat.

On this issue, President Luis Guillermo Solis simply assured that the administrative issues of the Foreign Service are handled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The resignation of Echeverría comes weeks after the one by Costa Rican ambassador to China, Javier León Pérez, who was fired on March 7th for lack of results in his management.

León Pérez will remain in office until May 13th.
