Costa Ricans condemn cock and dog fights but favor bullfighting

The opinion of the population on the issues involving cases of animal abuse is divided, according to a survey conducted by the National University (UNA).

46% agree with “bullfighting”, 50% expressed that it should not be banned. While 88% said that they disagree with cockfighting and dogfighting.

José Andrés Díaz, one of the researchers concluded that the survey makes clear that on the subject of animal welfare defense measures must be taken by the Government.

97% of the respondents supported legislation, and 90%of them agreed that penalties should be imposed on those who mistreat animals.
