Costa Ricans spend more and more time stuck in traffic

According to data from the survey 2016 News from the School of Statistics of the University of Costa Rica, the duration of commutes in the country increased 9 minutes on average in the last year.

In total, 1,059 people were interviewed and the project was led by coordinator Johnny Madrigal.

According to the study, on average, we invested 43 minutes to get to our destinations, such as work and school. The previous year the average was 34 minutes.

The data also indicate that people traveling in private vehicles reported 11 minutes more on the road, while public transport users reported an increase of 13 minutes.

The most supported solutions by interviewees are strengthening the train service (87%) and teleworking (86%).
