Costa Ricans woke up with a 4.8-degree earthquake on Sunday

A strong 4.8-degree earthquake surprised Costa Ricans on Sunday morning. The event occurred at 2:44 a.m. and the epicenter was located 40.7 km southwest of Jacó, according to the report of the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI) and also of the National Seismological Network.

The quake was felt in several parts of the national territory. Coronado, Heredia, Cóbano, Puntarenas, Desamparados, Moravia and Alajuela were some of the places where people reported it, assuring that it was quite strong.

In recent weeks, this sector of the Pacific, specifically Jacó, has had a lot of seismic activity.
